The story of Absolut Vodka began in 1879 when Lars Olsson Smith invented continuous distillation on the small island of Reimersholme, laying the foundation for a revolutionary concept that would change the spirits world forever. The visionary Swedish entrepreneur distilled his vodka multiple times without interruption, separating the alcohol from unwanted substances with unprecedented precision, creating what he called „Absolut Rent Brännvin" – an absolutely pure spirit – and giving the brand the iconic name it carries to this day.

The brand's „One Source" philosophy stands for the conviction that all ingredients come from a single source – the small village of Åhus in southern Sweden, where winterhardy winter wheat grown by over 300 personally known family farms in the surrounding region is combined with crystal-clear water from the distillery's own deep-water well, giving Absolut Vodka its characteristic purity, full body and smooth wheat character that has remained unchanged for over a century.

Exactly one century after the product's introduction, the name Absolut was officially adopted as the brand name, and in that same year the vodka was launched in the United States for the first time, triggering an international breakthrough that transformed Absolut into one of the world's best-known and best-selling spirits brands – today part of the French Pernod Ricard Group and exported to around 130 countries, with the unmistakable bottle design inspired by an antique Swedish apothecary flask remaining one of the most iconic design symbols in the global spirits world.
