Briska
Briska
Briska is Sweden's best-selling premium cider brand and the result of a fascinating and unique collaboration in the Swedish beverage industry between two renowned houses: Spendrups Bryggeri, Sweden's largest brewing group headquartered in Stockholm, and the renowned family company Kiviks Musteri, one of the most significant and traditional cider producers in Scandinavia from the beautiful Österlen region in southern Sweden. The brand was developed in 2008 and launched on the Swedish market in 2009, with the stated goal of creating a cider that would bridge the gap between the classic dry English cider and the sweeter Scandinavian variety – fruity and natural, but with a restrained and not overwhelming sweetness.
The heart of Briska is the elaborate and carefully documented production process developed in close collaboration with Cidermästare Bengt Åkesson of Kiviks Musteri. The apples for Briska come exclusively from the fruit-rich Österlen region in Scania and are harvested by hand and sorted by variety and taste to achieve the right balance in the final product. The fruit is then pressed, fermented for two weeks and refined with a juice content of over 20% into a fresh, fruity-sparkling and qualitatively convincing cider that contains no artificial flavourings and derives its character entirely from the fruits used.
Since its introduction, Briska has experienced impressive growth and in 2021 became the undisputed market leader in the Swedish cider segment despite its premium positioning – proof of the persuasive power of a product that unites Swedish naturalness, artisanal care and fruity enjoyment in a unique way. The range today encompasses a broad palette of flavours from classic apple through elderflower, pineapple and pomegranate to seasonal newcomers, and with the gradual introduction to the international market, Briska is demonstrating that Swedish cider quality can exert a fascination that extends far beyond the borders of Scandinavia.
