BRULO was founded in spring 2019 by James Brown with the desire to create high-quality alcohol-free craft beer for the modern world, launching with a simple promise to only produce beer that he loves. James Brown, who is also well known in the British beer scene as the founder of the renowned online beer subscription service Beer52, recognised early on the growing demand for alcohol-free craft beers that make absolutely no compromises on quality and taste, making Edinburgh in Scotland the home of one of the most innovative and daring alcohol-free breweries in the world.

BRULO is one of the first breweries in the United Kingdom to exclusively offer alcohol-free beer, with the clear mission of shaking up the boring and tasteless alcohol-free beer of the past, always using the finest ingredients, innovative yeast cultures and modern brewing techniques. The entire range — from crisp lagers to Double Dry Hopped IPAs, sours and stouts — is brewed just like regular beer, with water, yeast, hops and barley, but without the alcohol content, and is always vegan.

BRULO's commitment to quality and taste has been recognised with numerous awards: in 2022, BRULO was named Best Alcohol-Free Drinks Provider at the UK Industry Awards and consistently ranks at the top of Untappd with some of the highest-rated alcohol-free beers on the platform. With exports to seven different countries and a constantly growing range including the world's first alcohol-free single-hop beer series, BRULO impressively proves that alcohol-free and exceptionally good are no contradiction in terms.
