Chimay Grande Réserve Barriques Rhum is a special edition of the well-known Belgian Trappist beer, which develops a unique aroma through its aging in rum barrels. This strong, top-fermented beer has an alcohol content of about 10.5% vol. and is based on the classic Chimay Blue, which has additionally been aged in oak barrels that previously contained rum. Through this barrel aging, the beer acquires intense notes of vanilla, coconut, dark chocolate, and candied fruits, combined with a subtle woody note and a hint of spices. The rum barrel aging gives the beer a warm, slightly sweet depth without overshadowing the typical Trappist characteristics. The result is a complex, harmonious beer with a smooth mouthfeel and a long, aromatic finish.
