Fixation Brewing Co. is one of the most remarkable and single-minded Australian craft beer breweries – founded in late 2015 as an IPA-only offshoot of Stone & Wood in Byron Bay, New South Wales, on the initiative of Tom Delmont, one of the best-known characters in the Melbourne beer scene. Delmont, who had worked for Mountain Goat for years and ignited his passion for West Coast IPAs on a beer trip through the United States in 2010, one day wandered by chance into the Stone & Wood brewery during a family holiday in Byron Bay – and left with a plan to found his own IPA-dedicated brewery. The decision to focus exclusively on IPAs was radical and uncompromising from the very beginning – and it was precisely this uncompromising nature that would prove to be the brewery's greatest strength.

The first and to this day most celebrated beer of the brewery, the Fixation IPA, hit the Australian market like a thunderbolt – hopped at every stage of the brewing process with Simcoe, Mosaic, Citra and Amarillo, this West Coast IPA is characterised by an extraordinary balance of juicy fruitiness, resinous hop aromatics and a long, pleasing bitterness. In 2019, Fixation opened its own brewery and taproom in Collingwood, Melbourne, on Smith Street, which quickly became a gathering point for IPA enthusiasts in the heart of Melbourne's inner city. In 2021, Fixation was acquired alongside Stone & Wood and Two Birds Brewing as part of the Fermentum Group by Lion, the Japanese beverage giant Kirin, with the artisanal ethos and uncompromising IPA focus remaining fully intact.

Today, Fixation's range encompasses far more than the original flagship IPA – from the hop-forward Obsession Session IPA through the fruity-tropical Poolside IPA to limited and seasonal special edition IPAs in a wide variety of style interpretations. All are united by the same philosophy that Tom Delmont and Stone & Wood articulated at the brewery's founding: the relentless obsession with brewing the best possible IPA that Australia has ever produced – an obsession that gave the beer its name and the brewery its soul.
