Hartwall

Hartwall was founded in 1836 by Victor Hartwall in Helsinki, originally as a manufacturer of artificial mineral water, making it one of the oldest beverage producers in Finland. Over the decades, the company evolved from a modest mineral water producer into one of the largest and most significant breweries in the country, with production facilities in Tornio, Lahti and Karijoki, becoming one of the defining forces of Finnish beverage culture that delights millions of consumers in Finland and far beyond.

Among the best-known brands in the Hartwall portfolio is the legendary Lapin Kulta, the Gold of Lapland, which for decades was Finland's most beloved beer brand, as well as the iconic Hartwall Long Drink, developed in 1952 for the Olympic Summer Games in Helsinki as a pre-mixed gin and grapefruit cocktail, which evolved from an Olympic summer drink into one of the greatest cult beverages in Finnish history. The largest breweries in Finland are Sinebrychoff, Hartwall and Olvi, and their beer brands such as Karhu, Koff, Lapin Kulta and Sandels dominate the taps of the country.

Hartwall is a Finnish brewer and beverage producer that, after several changes of ownership, has belonged to Royal Unibrew since 2013. Despite its international integration into the Danish Royal Unibrew Group, Hartwall retains to this day its distinctive Finnish character and its deep roots in Nordic drinking and beer culture, which have made the company an indispensable part of Finnish everyday life and spirit for nearly two centuries.
