Kilkenny Red Ale is a classic Irish Red Ale, which, alongside Guinness, is one of the best-known Irish beers. Originally known under the name Smithwick's, it was renamed in the 1980s for export because the original name was difficult to pronounce on the European mainland. The reddish-brown ale was named Kilkenny, after the city from which it originates. Kilkenny is poured with nitrogen, giving it a fine-pored, lush foam head.
